like Sugar Mountain NC. With a climate and area that is

Country attractions like Sugar Mountain ski area, and

Banner Elk and Linville. NC horseback riding is also a
great way to get out and see the mountains, and many
visitors and residents enjoy riding on the trails in the

for whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing and tubing.
There are many rivers and smaller creeks in the area
perfect for fishing and swimming as well.
The shopping and dining establishments in the High

Sugar Mountain NC is perhaps best known for the ski
area, the largest ski area in North Carolina, with over
115 acres, 20 ski trails and 8 lifts. The Sugar Mountain
ski area not only offers excellent snow skiing and snow
boarding, but also tubing, which is another great way to
enjoy the snow. Tubing is a lot like sledding and is the
perfect activity for smaller children and families.
Beech Mountain is also located just a short drive away
and offers great skiing as well for those that would
like to enjoy skiing at more than one mountain.
Many vacationers enjoy taking a short drive to Boone NC
or Blowing Rock NC and visiting the shops, restaurants
and entertainment that can be found in those areas of
the High Country.
