North
Carolina Ski Resorts
Deciding on the perfect place to go for a ski vacation
you may not consider North Carolina to be that special
place; however the popularity of the North Carolina Ski
Resorts prove that North Carolina is fast becoming a
major ski destination in the southeast.
Most of the popular North Carolina ski resorts are
located in an area in Western North Carolina known as
the High Country. This area receives a vast amount of
snowfall each winter and temperatures remain low enough
to maintain optimal conditions for snowmaking and snow
skiing at various North Carolina ski resorts. Sugar
Mountain NC is home to one of the four ski resorts in
the High Country. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is the
largest North Carolina ski resort in the region and
boasts 115 acres of ski and snowboard terrain, 20 slopes
and trails and 4 tubing runs.
Near Sugar Mountain NC are the other North Carolina ski
resorts like Beech Mountain, Hawksnest Ski Resort, and
Appalachian Ski Resort, which is located in Blowing
Rock. With so many great North Carolina ski resorts to
choose from who would not want to plan a North Carolina
ski vacation to the High Country.
In addition to the four large ski areas in the High
County of North Carolina, there are also a few others
scattered about the state. Wolf Laurel, located in Mars
Hill and Cataloochee Ski Resort, located in Maggie
Valley, are also excellent North Carolina ski resorts
and great places to check out. Scaly Mountain is also a
fun place, and offers tubing runs, however they are
closed for skiing.
